Azerbaijani Republic

Capital: Baku

Azerbaijan is famous for its embroidered textiles. Artists use colorful threads (sometimes made of gold or silver) and beads to create geometric patterns on a thin wool fabric called tirme.

NKU currently has approximately 1 student from Azerbaijan (Spring 2005).

Located in Southwestern Asia, Azerbaijan borders the Caspian Sea, between Iran and Russia.
